La Tâche

The title itself is like a stain. The wood is erased before the enigma of the image. We see textures, skin and textile, brushing the surface of the screen. The echo of the impact of a stick delivers the sound of its source. A passing laugh, the frantic rustling of paper, and the work gesture all surreptitiously announce the permanent obliteration of the white film (the image?) which acts as screen for the eye. The artist can then permit himself to write his name at the foot of the page. (Marc Mercier)
